Jon lajoie
Jon Lajoie (IPA: [laʒwa]), born Jonathan Lajoie of a francophone father and an anglophone mother, is a Canadian comedian, actor, and internet celebrity from Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Early Life
Born and raised in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Lajoie graduated from Dawson College's theatre program in 2001. Since 2002, he has acted as an anglophone musician named Thomas Edison in Radio-Canada's francophone soap opera L'auberge du chien noir.
Internet Videos
Lajoie first became popular through the video Everyday Normal Guy, in which he, in ironic contrast to typical rap songs, sings about his bland, run-of-the-mill daily activities and his peaceful nature. Lajoie's other videos soon became a hit, such as 2 Girls One Cup song, Show Me Your Genitals, Sunday Afternoon, and High as Fuck. On two occasions, Lajoie responded to the popularity of his videos by making sequels. He followed up Everyday Normal Guy with Everyday Normal Guy 2 and Everyday Normal Crew, and did the same for Show Me Your Genitals with Show Me Your Genitals 2: E=MC Vagina and I Kill People. In Everyday Normal Crew, Lajoie not only raps about his boring life but his friends' as well. At the end of the song he says that he agrees that "the joke's getting old". At the time of this writing, his videos have received millions of hits on the Internet, especially those on YouTube. Show Me Your Genitals currently has the highest YouTube viewing of all his videos, over 15 million views. Lajoie's songs are often parodies of everyday things, such as stay at home dads, pathetic attempts at having sexual intercourse with girls, and doing chores on Sunday afternoons. Until recently, Lajoie's "Show Me Your Genitals" character possessed no name or alias, until his most recent video "I Kill People", where he refers to himself as 'MC Vagina', early on in the video.
Lajoie has also been known to come out with parodies of everyday infomercials, such as advertising "pedophile beards", "rapist glasses", and methods of stress relief via "not giving a fuck". The commercials are often much shorter than the songs in length.
Lajoie also released a "philosophical song" called Alone In The Universe, the video for which is a parody of Coldplay's "Yellow." Along with songs and commercials, Lajoie has also posted two videos of his fictional TV show, "Pointless Profanity", in which he uses expletives throughout the whole show only to be portrayed as kind and well-mannered once the cameras are off.
A common source of humor in Lajoie's videos is the appearance of his friend Steve, a man with a thick beard who doesn't speak often, usually only to say his classic line, "You want some of this, bitch?" In Everyday Normal Crew, Steve refuses to say it until Lajoie pays him. In the same video, Lajoie claims that Steve "will probably have a heart attack sometime soon."
Lajoie's videos have also portrayed him as a fan of the Montreal Canadiens, especially in the video Canadiens vs. Flyers in which he saves a woman being harassed by a man wearing a Philadelphia Flyers T-shirt. At the end of the video, Lajoie refers to Carey Price as "Jesus" Price.
During a radio interview with Christiane Charette for Première Chaîne,[1] Lajoie stated that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (head writer at Saturday Night Live for five years), part owners of funnyordie.com, admitted to being big fans of his work during his recent trip in Los Angeles, California where he had a chance to meet McKay.
You Want Some Of This? Debut Album
Jon Lajoie released his debut album You Want Some Of This? on January 30th 2009, under Normal Guy productions. It features all of his songs from his YouTube sketches released up to that point, meaning except for "I Kill People" and "Alone In The Universe", and with additional new tracks.
