Gorillaz - Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey’s Head/n

/n

Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain,/n

there was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived,/n

their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world,/n

obscured as it was by great clouds./n

Here they played out their peaceful lives,/n

innocent of the litany of excess and violence/n

that was growing in the world below./n

To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain/n

called Monkey was enough./n

Then one day Strangefolk arrived in the town./n

They came in camouflage, hidden behind dark glasses,/n

but no one noticed them: they only saw shadows./n

You see, without the Truth of the Eyes,/n

the Happyfolk were blind./n

/n

Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes/n

Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home/n

Jump back from behind them and shoot them in the head/n

Now everybody dancing the dance of the dead,/n

the dance of the dead,/n

the dance of the dead/n

/n

In time, Strangefolk found their way/n

into the high reaches of the mountain,/n

and it was there that they found/n

the caves of unimaginable Sincerity and Beauty./n

By chance, they stumbled upon/n

the Place Where All Good Souls Come to Rest./n

The Strangefolk,/n

they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things,/n

and soon they began to mine the mountain,/n

its rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world./n

Meanwhile, down in the town,/n

the Happyfolk slept restlessly,/n

their dreams invaded by shadowy figures/n

digging away at their souls./n

Every day, people would wake and stare at the mountain./n

Why was it bringing darkness into their lives?/n

And as the Strangefolk mined/n

deeper and deeper into the mountain,/n

holes began to appear,/n

bringing with them a cold and bitter wind/n

that chilled the very soul of them up./n

For the first time, the Happyfolk felt fearful/n

for they knew that soon the Monkey would soon stir/n

from its deep sleep./n

And then came a sound./n

Distant first, it grew into castrophany so immense/n

it could be heard far away in space./n

There were no screams. There was no time./n

The mountain called Monkey had spoken./n

There was only fire. And then, nothing./n

/n

O little town in U.S.A, your time has come to see/n

There’s nothing you believe you want/n

But where were you when it all came down on me?/n

Did you call me now?
