Cuban quintet formed by experienced musicians who were previously playing in bands such as Cuarteto Patria, El Dúo de los Compadres, and la Estudiantina Invasora. Vieja Trova Santiaguera's main characteristic has been its ability to combine son, guaracha, and bolero. Reinaldo Creagh, Francisco Cobas, Aristóteles Limonta, Ricardo de los Santos, and Reinaldo Hierrezuelo were able to get international attention while getting their music heard throughout Latin America. In 1995, Vieja Trova Santiaguera started touring Spain, Germany, and France. The success of that tour moved them to Europe one more time the following year. With the beginning of the new millennium and after releasing Dominó, Vieja Trova Santiaguera, was nominated by the Spanish AFYVE Association to the Fourth Annual Amigo Awards.
