"voices in my head"
I wrote "voices in my head" with my friend, The Nicholas, also known as Rutger, in the backseat of an uber on our way to a guitar shop.
We both share this great love for vintage guitars and there's a lot of them in LA, so sometimes we took little trips to guitar stores.
The Nicholas was around for most of the "album 1" recording process, and oftentimes stayed at my Airbnb.
I really love working with this dude.
There's not...there's just not a lot of people I can connect with on that level.
It's a very geniune connection and whatever music we work on, it always feels like a very natural process.
And I think when we're writing, we are always kind of on the same page, in terms of the direction of the song, and the feeling it should give the listener.
I think "voices in my head" is about a couple of things.
First of all, it's about not being able to get on the same page with someone.
One of the lyrics is what to say, one always said, because sometimes no matter how much you try, sometimes words just don't make sense, and you can't get on the same wavelength.
Secondly, I see the "voices in my head" as all these negative thoughts that enter your mind from time to time.
The voices that say "Don't do it" or "What if...", all the second thoughts, the insecurities, and the constant doubt, jealousy...
All these things you don't really want in your head, but they're kind of part of life.
