Spark
Female. Eighteen years old but with a combination of characteristics in both personality and musicality that make her seem both 5 and 35 at times. Hair as black as night, skin that's almost see through and blood red lips. Got that image? Okay. Good. Because this is Spark.
With a childhood made up of melodramatic theatre performances, playing football preeeetty well and being the free entertainment in almost every situation, when Spark picked up a guitar at 12 years old, managed to get a sound out of it and wrote her first song, it was the most natural thing in the world for this innovative East London girl to do.
Arguably unconventionally, Spark grew up listening to artists from the Spice Girls to Shaggy and has since exposed herself to everything around and in between. However, although this will have, inevitably, had an impact on Spark's sound, it has been purely people, situations, relationships, losses and gains that have influenced her lyrically- a writer that choses her words carefully before placing them neatly somewhere between rhyme and reason. Take the music away and you're left with a poem. Take the poetry away and you're left with melodies and rhythms flowing from her layered vocals.
Her path thus far has been a combination of happenings stemming from her get-it-done, hungry attitude and a series of serendipitous events. Take these things. Take a blank canvas and put them on. Then; add in the dark hair, a whole load of hairspray, the pale skin, a set of red lips, eighteen years of history under her belt, both ladylike and tomboy-esque ways, lots of laughs, lots of thoughts, words and a voice to get them out, a few grins and a wink and THEN what are you left with? Spark is what. That is all. Boom.
