Elen Levon
To be 19, with the world at your feet.
To have a record deal with one of Australia’s leading record labels inked before your 17th birthday, and ride out the last of your teenage years as a pop star. To watch your first single work its way across the world, while you fly into South-East Asia to film the video for your second. To see your third single become a pop anthem, while sitting in a studio in Los Angeles, working with some of the greatest producers on your debut EP.
It’s the dream of most, if not every, teenage girl. But it’s the real life of Elen Levon.
Signed to Ministry of Sound at 16, Elen’s debut single ‘Naughty’ was an electric introduction to the starlet, which worked its way through highest rotation across all broadcast formats and into the iPods and music libraries of the nation. At 17, Elen unveiled her sophomore release ‘Like A Girl In Love’ which lived upon the dance floors of the world, crossing over to the radio-waves, the interwebs and beyond, with its enslaving vocal refrain.
Elen’s 2012 single ‘Dancing To The Same Song’, affirmed her position atop of the Australian artists to watch. ‘Dancing To The Same Song’ was one of her own compositions, co-written with pop-electro outfit 3Oh!3 and producer Mark Maxwell in Los Angeles. An electric tale of precluded love, the yearning of the heart, and the connectivity of souls through separation, the single went on to garner high rotation on radio and TV and recently found favour on the international scene – cracking the Top 20 on the Italian charts with further European territories to follow suit.
Bouncing between studios along the sunset strip, writing with super-producers like Jeremy Skaller (Jay Sean, Justin Timberlake, Usher), Elen is now living the California dream as she splits her studio time between Australia and the US.
After reaching the ARIA Top 50 with her last single ‘Wild Child’, Elen now returns with a heartfelt new song, ‘Over My Head’.
Elen co-wrote ‘Over My Head’ on a recent writing trip to Los Angeles with some of the industry’s biggest hit makers – Tom Meredith, who has written with Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson, One Direction, and MdL, who produced Maroon 5 ‘Daylight’ and Justin Bieber ‘Boyfriend’, amongst others.
‘Over My Head’ shows a new level of maturity for the singer-songwriter, showcasing Elen’s storytelling as she reflects on the frustrations and feats of young love.
