Elise Lieberth
Elise Lieberth was born and raised in Denver, Colorado where she grew up discovering her passion for music. As a free spirited little girl, her mother would often look out the back porch window and watch Elise pretending she was on stage giving a concert. She would line up all her stuffed animals as her audience, who she sang to and in hopes of one day singing onstage to an audience of thousands of fans. “I was my mothers’ walking song bird; she’d tell me to sing for people and I would burst into song no matter where we were. My favorite song to sing was ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’” Elise recalls.
With encouragement from her family and their strong faith in Elise, she began to get serious about her music. Elise has never been vocally trained; she has always sung what comes naturally to her. At age eight Elise began to write her own lyrics and by ten years old her mother enrolled her in Colorado Productions, an audition only Choral group that toured throughout the state. During her time at Colorado productions Elise traveled and performed around Denver, which she did for several years. She was a standout performer in her group. Although as Elise claims, she never really had the best dance moves, it was her voice and charisma that was something that couldn’t be ignored. “I had a lot of solos, and if it weren’t for the solos, my instructor would’ve preferred me to be in the back row where my two left feet wouldn’t be noticed.” Elise giggles.
During her junior high and high school years, Elise continued to pursue her music, excelling in Honors Choirs, lettering in music, earning solos, and writing songs during history class. At age sixteen, she picked up her first six string guitar, graced her fingers over a couple strings and that’s when Elise knew that she had big dreams and huge plans to move away to California, New York or Nashville after high school to pursue her dreams. “I didn’t care if I was going to be living out of a box, I was determined to leave Colorado and make a name for myself in the music business.”
It was about that time in Elise’s senior year of high school when she had to start to think about applying to colleges and making decisions that would forever change the course of her life. Elise had fallen in love with a boy, and they became very serious, soon after they started dating, to everyone’s shock Elise discovered that she was pregnant. “It was the scariest thing that had ever happened to me, I found out at a time when I was very depressed about life, and when I found out I was about to have a child, it was like God had given me an absolute reason to live, my daughter is my life saver” says Elise. She embraced parenthood, and putting her daughter, and career first, she put music on the back burner. A year after high school, Elise married her first love and she wrote “I’m Yours Tonight” (which was then titled “Tomorrow More than Today, and was a little different) she sang it to her husband at their reception. Elise and her husband, moved to Colorado Springs, had another baby. That eternal flame of love which Elise had for her husband still burns inside, but their marriage soon ended in divorce. These trials and tribulations of love, loss, deceit, hurt, betrayal, pain and hope are what inspire Elise’s lyrics and songs today. She writes songs about her real life experiences. If you listen closely to her lyrics, you will start to understand the road Elise has traveled upon to get to where she is today, was not a smooth, but she endured the bumps the bruises, the twists and turns, the ups and downs and the heartaches along the way.
As Elise continued to grow, along with her children, she knows she needs to set an example for them by following her dreams. Although many obstacles have stood in her way, she won’t be giving up any time soon, she decided 2010 was going to be the year to make the CD she always dreamed of making. With no regrets, Elise’s first album “Letters from Elise” hit iTunes, Amazon and eMusic on May 25th 2010. It is a collection of songs Elise describes as “letters, stories and confessions that she would love for the person they’re written about to hear”. With the help of her producer Tyler Ward, one of Elise’s many dreams had come true. Elise is extremely driven and focused on providing a better life for her children; she is doing everything she can to let her voice be heard. She has been in the studio with Denver’s very talented local producer/songwriter Mikhael Binder. Elise is currently working on her second EP.
