Band's History
The story of the band with mysterious name “Fferyllt” is tracing its roots back to late autumn of 2003, when keyboarder Diarmaid began to think about creation of a musical project, which's main concept would be his native religion – Western-European Paganism. The path of it lies trough distant North, trough the traditions of Norsemen and Celts. Asatru and Druidism became main burdens in Diarmaid's songs.
As North is fierce and unbounded, as the way to accomplishment one's idea is long and involved. In the beginning Fferyllt becomes a studio project. The member of the cast was a musician, who's destiny only for a short while concerned with the project. His name was O'Cella, and he took part in recording of early demos.
Two months later calm life of the project has started moving with reinforcement. The cast was increased with Alexei Godlevsky. It has marked the beginning of rehearsals and hard work, breathing new life and hope into Fferyllt's existence as a band.
Spring of 2007 brought new breath into band – the ranks were filled with two musicians. They were bassist Alexander Lebedev, and singer Astrid (Yanina Zelenskaya). Time was drawing near to the sunny season, which made preconditions for new tendencies, ideas and songs in the band.
6-th may 2007 is considered as Fferyllt's day of foundation as a full band. The band, which would be able to bring its works to the listeners not only with the aid of records, but also trough live performances.
After a while Fferyllt became richer in new ideas, and music obtains new shades with appearance of two new members of the cast. They were growl-singer Ragnar (Rustam Borzov), and guitarist Andrew Awdick. The band continues rehearsals and working on the debut album.
Friendly moral support and special spiritual atmosphere played a big role in accomplishment of recording Fferyllt's first album, which's name is “Dance of Druids”. The spirit of the album are West-European folk instruments, such as bagpipe, whistle and bodhran. In the lyrics is presented the spirit of the nature, as well as descriptions of Celtic and Scandinavian Pagan fests.
The pattern woven by the Norns was fortunate, and the Fferyllt’s spirit was lit up with a new hope – of releasing the album in a short time. But after signing a contract with the label "Stygian Crypt Productions" (August, 2008), the band has befallen new changes in the staff. Bassist Alexander Lebedev, singer Rustam Borzov, and guitarist Alaxei Godlewsky had to quit Fferyllt. As the forefathers were saying, the sword is being steeled in this way… Following this, the band grows stronger with joining of new members – drummer Evgeniy Martynov, guitarist Georgiy Tsedov, and bassist Sergey Gritsai. After new members’ joining, the band begins to prepare for the concert activity.
